Quality of Life

My focus on Council has been on our quality of life in Peachtree Corners. Improving the appearance of the city overall through maintenance of our roads and right of ways, the use of code compliance to ensure reasonable property maintenance, ensuring new development meets the standards we set as a city through planning and zoning, and studying ways to improve walkability and reduce traffic congestion.

We have had important initiatives positively impacting our quality of life. The first was our purchase of the Roberts property across from the Forum to prevent the addition of more apartments. We have now broken ground on our Town Center. It will be a mixed use development designed to compliment the Forum. It will have a Cinebistro as the anchor tenant, retail, restaurants, office space and town homes. There will be a Town Green with a stage for events. It will also include a veterans’ monument and eventually a botanical garden. The city will own and develop the parking garage, streets and town green. At closing, we paid off the loan used to purchase the land. The funds required to complete our projects are in an escrow account. The project will be completed debt free.

As a result of our Livable Cities Initiative study, we began to plan for a trail system that would connect areas both within the city and connect with other cities. The first leg of this trail system is planned along a lake in Technology Park, running from Peachtree Parkway to Medlock Bridge Road.

We assisted the county with the purchase of Simpsonwood. This preserves an amazing amount of land as a passive park.

We continue to look for ways to increase the quality of life in Peachtree Corners.
